Autumn is when riders in the UK traditionally begin to think about hanging up their racing wheels and slowing down. For many, the highlight of the winter season is their club’s café run – a chance to chat with their mates, spin their legs, drink coffee and eat cake. It’s time to stop worrying about mileage and speed, and think about winter insulation!
To celebrate this, the cafes and cycling app decided to combine coffee and cycling with informal ride and to give everyone the chance to win something unique at the same time. To collect a mug, all you have to do is ride your bike from LMNH to G!RO cafe (or the other way around) take a picture in each cafe and upload it to Strava (The step by step instructions on how to do that are here.
Over 100 people took part over the first weekend including Simon Klima from Strava who said: “my caferun was a great Sunday morning social, a casual spin with friends bookended by delicious coffee and cake, and the free mug was the cherry on the top"
Sam from Look mum no hands! said “This challenge is not concerned with what route you take, how far you can go, how many metre you can climb or how many KOMs you can bag. Just ride your bike with some friends, visit two lovely cafes and sample some cakes!”
The first 500 people will get a free coffee in their winner’s mug when they show the cafe staff pictorial proof. You can see some of the early rides from the weekend here https://tagboard.com/caferun/search Strava will also feature some of the best photos on the @stravacycling Instagram – tag your photos and posts with #caferun. LMNH has a Strava club and Instagram, and G!RO’s Strava club is here and Instagram here.
The mugs are limited edition, and when they’re gone, they’re gone. Only one mug per person, and please play nicely by the rules!
The ride is on until we run out of mugs.
